Vaidyan Dr

I am Reghu Harichandran, the chief Siddha Vaidya consultant at Center for Integrated Medicine, in Kerala, India. I was more interested in Siddha Vaidya, making medicine, and practicing martial arts of Kalari than my regular school studies. I was so interested in these areas, that I witnessed my father’s assistants harvesting herbs, chopping, pulverizing, juicing and finally making the finished medicinal formula.

Dr. Harichandran

My childhood was spent with my father Dr. Harichandran, interacting with his patients and students that hailed from many countries and my mother making special medicines. She told me of the many specific timber used to fire specific herbal formula, for its medicinal fumes that in turn gets infused into the formula. I also learned to identify the many hundreds of herbs, and how to distinguish each from other similar looking plants, by doing specific tests on them.

Serious studies into Siddha Vaidya medicine consumed my young adult days. This included the study of the basic principles, human anatomy and physiology, the Siddha Vaidya way, basic pharmacy and ethno- botany. I had traveled far and wide in search of rare medicinal plants, which gave me an opportunity to interact with many learned elders, fellow Siddha Vaidya physicians. They gave me directions in life, Siddha Vaidya, in Siddha Vaidya philosophy.

The next stage in my life was in my mid-thirties. My father was particular that I follow his path and I made him a promise that I will learn more and more every day. I still continue my studies to this day. Following his lead, I collect palm leaf manuscripts from any and all sources possible, translate them and all useful information copied and codified for future reference. This way, Siddha Vaidya literature will always be protected.

My professional healing life started under my father, in association with Dr. Rajkumar Reghunathan (a medical doctor and my father's Siddha Vaidya.) We opened an integrated clinic combining western medicine, Siddha Vaidya and Ayurveda in Trivandrum, a coastal city bordering the Indian Ocean (The Center for Integrated Medicine). The clinic still stands at an isolated beach, with coconut palm groves, made as a home away from home, an intimate facility where one can get personalized health care. The Center for Integrated Medicine increased my exposure to health issues from all over the world and solutions on how to deal with them a friendly manner.

My goal is to train deserving candidates in Siddha Vaidya principles, diagnosis, pharmacy and external therapies. Siddha Vaidya enables one to be self sufficient in health care. Even very complicated medicinal formula can be prepared in one’s kitchen using very low technology.

I am in a constant search to find the right candidates who are dedicated to healing as a spiritual path, and not as an economic activity. I am always looking forward to sharing the knowledge that I have gained throughout my life to the right students. The prospective students should be very special and dedicated to healing as an inner calling. When Siddha Vaidya is used as a path for prosperity, it loses its divine nature. My search continues. As and when I find interested individuals, I train them in aspects of Siddha Vaidya that fit them well.

My aim in Europe is to increase awareness of longevity. There are many treatments and lifestyle adjustments that can be used to enhance ones abilities and lifespan. I find that stress is an overwhelming factor in modern European life, and I would like to provide simple and effective tools to deal and reduce stress. In this regard, I am associating with Dr. Rajkumar and Mr. Tommy Olsson, a well wisher, who has taken upon himself the task of spreading Siddha Vaidya in Europe as part of his social commitment.
